Sumatra island

There´s a huge crater lake on Sumatra. The island has been devastated in volcano eruptions. Sumatra has unique wildlife that is on the verge of dwindling in abyss. Human culture is an interesting mix of indigenous, Islamic, Indian and European influences through centuries. You can grasp that feeling of opposites creating an uneasy balance, yet the surrounding seem serene. Under the brim brews the memories of that glorious sultanate of Aceh, and it is not many years ago that insurgency fighting against Indonesian government was put to an end. As you can see, Sumatra is genuinely exciting place to visit.

Gloomy Sumatra vibe as clouds are gliding by smoking volcanoes that drum up memories of Krakatoa´s explosive eruption.

GROWING HUMAN INFLUENCE

Sumatra had a fine balance. It is one of the biggest islands in the world and holds vast forest area. Those forests used to hide almost unimaginable treasures but as human ingenuity has given us the means to influence our environment... we do it without consideration wanting more and more right now and leaving less and less for the future. You need to go to Sumatra now, if you want to experience it. While you are there, do what you can to save the island and continue the work when back at home. That´s what I´m doing with this blog.
